Crude Oil Trader - Fortune 500 Oil and Gas Producer

Primary Responsibilities:

The Crude Oil Trader will develop a trading book and manage a P&L, subject to risk limits. The candidate will deal primarily with US domestic crudes, and support company or traders on global crudes. This position will operate within an established Supply & Trading infrastructure.

Communication Areas

Interact with other departments, such as Operations, Middle Office, Back Office, etc.

Required competencies:

Expert command of crude oil and condensate market fundamentals, supply, demand, pricing mechanisms, blending characteristics, logistics, regulations, operations and contractual terms used in purchase/sale of crude oil.
Knowledge and experience in derivative / hedging transactions.
Proven ability to develop & successfully execute trading strategies based on market analysis
Sourcing of streams and blending if needed.
Expertise in managing storage facilities.
Professional presence and strong interpersonal skills. At ease in multicultural environment and able to work collegially at all levels in the organization
Self-motivated, results driven, and having the ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining good judgment.
Absolute integrity

Skill Profile:

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or quantitative discipline.
Minimum of 3-5 years relevant crude oil trading work experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Effective organization skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
Ability to multi-task
Acute attention to detail executed with minimal error margin.
Ability to handle high stress environment while still increasing revenue.

Detailed Responsibilities

Specific area of expertise: oversee Gulf Coast and Latin American crude/condensate trading, derivatives and blending.
Leverage a broad relationship base to trade and optimize value of barrels bought/sold or blended within the Americas.
Gather data/research on cargo/barge market from third party end users, traders and brokers.
Gather/respond to business needs of our term partners and the home office.
Communicate trades to middle office via System and management.
Coordinate hedging strategies on traded cargoes, barges and storage to take advantage of term structure, opportunities along the futures curve.
Value and monitor risk of overall portfolio, updating mark-to-market.
Contribute to the development of the overall strategy of the book in coordination with company or management.
Identify, negotiate and close trades on the cargo and barge markets.
Share information/develop opportunities with other Traders.
Handle physical side of deal flow with Logistics.
Exchange trade ideas, supply/component crude/condensate needs with other blenders/end users.
Gather system needs, cargo length program for the month with Head office in London.
Select opportunities, counter-parties to work with.
Selection of grades of gasoline components to be produced and components needed for production.
Negotiate terms and conditions within company guidelines.
Compliance with Company Policy/Procedure, Inco Terms, pipeline specifications, Nymex, regulations and abide to SOA procedures.
Negotiate long term contracts with counter-parties.
Comply with credit department policies and procedures.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
