Sr. Crude Trading Analyst - Fortune 500 Producer (Open Due to Promotion)

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for creating and maintaining economic modelling of various type of energy deals, including term sale and purchase, transportation, storage and processing agreements for the trading company. Propose trading ideas and identify business development opportunities.

Communication Areas

Daily interaction with trading ( Domestic & Global trading offices) , Production and Schedulers. Outside organization contacts are counter-parties, pipelines, storage facilities and data vendors. Due to the nature of the Trading Department, person must be comfortable in an open environment with limited privacy.

Detailed Responsibilities

Create and maintain economic modelling of various type of energy deals, including term sale and purchase, transportation, storage and processing agreements for the trading company and multiple Commodity analysis, including Crude, Products, Feedstocks etc
Provide direction and strategy to management on potential business opportunities or industry evolution
Communicate with traders the economics of the term sale and purchase, transportation, storage and processing plant arrangements and make recommendations
Communicate with schedulers the imbalances created from transportation, storage and processing plant allocations
Prepare delivered sales volumes and pricing analysis on crude along with detailed support on both domestic and international loading areas.
Track and compile on a daily basis all applicable crude oil postings, and basis differentials for analytical reports
Primary contact for problem resolution regarding project valuation and analysis
Model and communicate the economics of transportation, storage and processing agreements with management
Ensure transportation, storage and processing revenue is in line with expectations and be able to explain discrepancies
Communicate internally knowledge, ideas and opinions obtained through analysis, outside contact and internal discussions
Maintain full compliance of the commercial activities in terms of policies, procedures and standards supported by both the Middle and Back Office
Participate in conjunction with relevant units in the definition of contractual standards and agreements
From time to time perform various tasks at the request from management

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Minimum of 5 year of relevant work experience
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or quantitative discipline
Proven ability to analyze the economics of a transaction
Proficient in the use of a variety of Microsoft applications, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Experience in assisting with strategic planning, detailed analysis and execution
Strong written and oral communication skills in English are essential, knowledge of Spanish would be a helpful but is not a requirement

KEY COMPETENCES REQUIRED

Requires excellent analytical skills – specifically experience with computer software
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization
Ability to meet established dead lines, goals and requirements
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts
Requires excellent organizational and analytical skills, self-motivated and ability to adapt easily to rapid changes and work in a fast paced environment
